The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience

Immersive team adventure based on the hit 90s TV show with four themed zones and the iconic Crystal Dome in the West End

The Crystal Maze LIVE Experience brings the 1990s game show to life beneath Shaftesbury Avenue. Teams of eight race through four themed zones — Medieval, Industrial, Aztec and Futuristic — solving puzzles, completing challenges and collecting crystals for the final showdown in the Crystal Dome.

A live Maze Master guides your team, heckles failures and celebrates wins throughout. Whether you know the original show or not, the mix of teamwork, time pressure and theatrical set design makes this one of London's best group outings.

Immersive Set Design

Immersive Set Design

The entire venue is a meticulously built recreation of the TV show's sets, covering over 30,000 square feet with detailed props, lighting and sound design.

Inside the Maze

The venue occupies a sprawling underground space just steps from Piccadilly Circus, purpose-built to recreate the four iconic zones — Medieval, Industrial, Aztec and Futuristic — each with its own atmosphere, set design and challenges. Teams move through in sequence, with members taking turns to enter individual game cells while the rest shout encouragement from behind the glass.

Games fall into four categories: mental, mystery, skill and physical. Each completed game earns a crystal, and each crystal buys five seconds of time in the final Crystal Dome. The Maze Master accompanies your team throughout, narrating progress, offering cryptic clues and delivering theatrical commentary.

The Crystal Dome and Scoring

The experience culminates in the Crystal Dome — the most recognisable element of the show. Your entire team steps inside the transparent dome as a wind machine sends hundreds of gold and silver foil tokens swirling through the air. The objective is simple: grab as many gold tokens as possible while avoiding silver ones, which subtract from your total.

The number of crystals your team has won determines how long you spend in the Dome — five seconds per crystal, so a perfect run gives a full 20 seconds. Scores are tallied afterwards, and the team with the highest gold count claims bragging rights. The scoring system adds genuine competitive tension to an already high-energy experience.

Booking and Group Tips

The Crystal Maze operates exclusively on a pre-booked basis, with sessions running from 10am to 10pm daily. Teams are ideally composed of eight players, as the games are designed for that number. If you book with fewer than eight, the venue may add other guests to fill the team.

The minimum age is 9, and participants must be able to stand for the full 75-minute duration and navigate several flights of stairs. The venue has a bar area where you can buy drinks before and after your session, making it a natural choice for birthdays, team-building events and group nights out. Corporate packages are available for larger groups who want to book the entire venue.

Visitor Tips

Book well in advance

Weekend and evening slots sell out weeks ahead, especially during school holidays. Book as early as possible and consider a weekday session for better availability and lower prices.

Aim for a team of eight

The games are designed for teams of eight. If you book fewer, strangers may be added to your group. Recruit a full team for the best experience.

Wear comfortable clothing

Some challenges are physical and involve crawling, climbing or balancing. Wear trainers and clothes you can move in easily. Avoid skirts, heels and anything restrictive.

Arrive 15 minutes early

You need to check in, store bags and meet your Maze Master before the session starts. Late arrivals may lose game time or forfeit their booking entirely.

Listen to the Maze Master

Your Maze Master will give you hints if you are stuck in a game cell. Pay attention to their commentary — it often contains useful clues disguised as jokes.
