Massive indoor entertainment complex in Milton Keynes — real snow skiing, indoor skydiving, climbing, bowling and cinema under one roof
Xscape Milton Keynes is one of Britain's largest indoor entertainment destinations, built around a 170-metre real snow ski slope operated by Snozone. The angular building opened in July 2000 and rises 44 metres above the Milton Keynes skyline, housing everything from indoor skydiving and trampolining to a 16-screen Cineworld cinema, Hollywood Bowl and dozens of restaurants. Entry to the building itself is free.
Whether you want to carve turns on genuine snow, experience freefall in a vertical wind tunnel at iFLY, scale climbing walls at Gravity, or simply catch a film and grab dinner, Xscape packs a full day out into a single climate-controlled complex. The venue attracts over three million visitors a year and remains a major draw for families, groups and anyone after something more adventurous than a standard shopping centre.
Xscape Milton Keynes opened in July 2000 as a purpose-built indoor leisure destination on the eastern edge of Central Milton Keynes. Designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects, the building's angular steel-and-glass structure rises 44 metres at the front, making it a prominent landmark on the city's skyline. The dramatic shape is dictated by the real snow slope inside, which runs the full length of the building at a gradient steep enough for genuine skiing and snowboarding.
Snozone is the anchor attraction. Its main slope stretches 170 metres long and 60 metres wide, covered in 1,500 tonnes of real snow maintained at minus two degrees Celsius year-round. The slope hosts open sessions for skiing and snowboarding, beginner and intermediate lessons, freestyle sessions with rails and jumps, and family sledging. Snozone also runs adaptive tuition sessions for visitors with physical disabilities, with specialist instructors and equipment available by arrangement.
iFLY indoor skydiving sits alongside Snozone as one of the headline experiences. Originally opened as Airkix in 2005, it was the first public vertical wind tunnel in the UK and has since introduced thousands of first-time flyers to the sensation of freefall. Two flights are included in a standard session, with an instructor in the tunnel throughout.
Gravity Active Entertainment occupies a substantial footprint with interconnected trampolines, a multi-route climbing wall, electric go-karts and augmented reality games. Hollywood Bowl offers ten-pin bowling with VIP lanes. Escape Hunt runs themed escape rooms for groups. Volcano Falls has an indoor adventure golf course. The 16-screen Cineworld multiplex includes IMAX and 4DX auditoriums, and a Grosvenor Casino operates on the upper level.
The ground floor houses a range of restaurants and cafes. Nando's, Pizza Express, Wagamama and Five Guys are among the chains, alongside independent options and a food court. Most restaurants are open from lunchtime until late evening, making Xscape a practical option for combining an activity with a meal.
Parking is free in the 2,000-space car park, which includes electric vehicle charging points. Milton Keynes Central station is about 15 minutes' walk away, with direct trains from London Euston in around 35 minutes. The complex is fully wheelchair accessible, with lift access to all levels and accessible facilities throughout. Most individual attractions offer their own online booking, and advance reservation is strongly recommended for Snozone and iFLY, particularly during school holidays and weekends.
Prices vary by activity, time slot and day of the week. Advance online booking usually offers the best rates, particularly for Snozone and iFLY. Entry to the Xscape building itself is free.
Slope sessions sell out during school holidays and weekends. Book online at least a week ahead to secure your preferred time slot and get the best price.
The snow slope is kept at minus two degrees. Snozone provides jackets and trousers but bring gloves and warm socks. You can hire boots and equipment on site.
Plan two or three activities across the day with a meal in between. Snozone in the morning, lunch at one of the restaurants, and iFLY or bowling in the afternoon works well.
Parking is free with over 2,000 spaces available. It rarely fills completely, but arrive before midday on weekends to park close to the main entrance.
Xscape opens early but each attraction sets its own hours. Check Snozone, iFLY or Cineworld times directly before travelling, as they differ from the building opening hours.
